I spoke with a potential adviser today about a project I will likely be doing on warning displays in ladybirds that sounds really cool. Just about to start the second week of classes tomorrow. The first week was pretty drab with lectures mostly on risk assessment, poster presentations, websites and such. It was spiced up a bit with a beach bonfire, Twix’s birthday party, international society get-together, bowling, yoga, and an oyster festival, but I unfortunately don’t have photos from any of those things.

My bruises from surfing were indeed cured by the miracle asian ointment but have been replaced by new bruises from falling down some concrete stairs and a failed attempt at stepping onto a sidewalk. I was going to take pretty pictures of these bruises to share here but decided against it. Instead I have posted pictures taken in poor lighting of my room which is still almost entirely undecorated:

I woke up this morning really stiff and even more bruised from surfing. My flatmate gave me some Asian ointment that he swears will remove my bruises, so we will see! I then went to tea with my friend Twix, and she came over and we cooked a delicious dinner of fried rice and battered tofu (pictured above). I also tried out a yoga class on campus with my course mate and neighbor, Lauren. About to get a good night’s rest now. My first class is tomorrow!

I went surfing today! I thought I would be freezing, but once we got started the weather was perfect! The sun even came out :) I didn’t actually manage to stand up yet, but I rode a few waves. I am planning to go again next weekend if the weather is nice and hopefully improve a little bit.

Back in Falmouth again! :)

Sorry for the delayed post. I can’t believe I have already been back in Falmouth for nearly two weeks! I love being back and have enjoyed getting to know some of the other masters students over the last few days. I’ve already made plans for kayaking and surfing and hopefully more fun things in the future. Classes don’t start until Monday, but we’ve been doing a first aid course this week. I haven’t taken any photos yet, but I’ll try to remember to post some when I do :)

Parents come tomorrow

I have had a great last few weeks in Cornwall. I’ve been out kayaking, surfing, swimming, and generally enjoying the lovely weather. I am sad to be leaving, but I also look forward to going home. It should be fun to show the parents around Cornwall for a bit. I am wondering how we are going to pack all of these things for the trip back home…
